xeno74 wrote: Fri May 15, 2026 8:20 am I don’t have these issues on my X1000. I successfully tested HD-audio, USB-audio and the Creative Soundblaster LIVE Player 1024 (EMU10K1) with the RC3 of kernel 7.1, with the stable kernel 7.0.6 and with the stable long-term kernel 6.12.84 on my X1000 and X5000 today
I've done some more testing. I tested 5.10.256 with Precise, 6.12.84 to 6.12.90 with Xenial and 7.0.6 as well as all 7.1 kernels up to RC4 with MATE. All booted up fine as expected but all unable to setup sound. I only have onboard audio connected through green jack.

To compare I will list output for versions you tested.

I'm starting to suspect my X1000 may have a fault on the audio output. For years I've heard this static noise, but at the time I had installed USB powered speakers, when I replaced my monitor with a speaker-less screen. So I thought it may have been interference. But I've since replaced that monitor with a Dell screen with a sound bar.

I tested OS4 since there the audio has always worked, despite the static. The boot sound played along with static. I'm so used to this it's almost normal to me. However, after boot AHI could not play any test sounds. Well, it was playing on the hardware, but no sound was coming out of the speakers. It hasn't got that bad before.

The X1000 is an old board by now, so it's possible my solder joints have deteriorated, or sound circuit developed some other fault. Even though I would consider it to be in good condition and avoid taking it out with me that won't stop time taking its toll. The easiest solution would be to install a sound card if this is the case. I'd be slightly disappointed, as I like using the integrated Nemo sound, since it has worked well over the years. :-)
