This problem exist in all versions of OS since 3.5 and including 4.1u3.
There are many ways to enter illegal chars in requesters that could cause all sorts of funny effects.
A solution in future updates of AsyncWB has been implemented that takes care of those issues.

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup
Yes, it it normal to see slight variation in reported version of kickstart since when soft kicked it is more exec version based and you get real hardware rom details. However, if the modules were activated, you should have the same latest exec version displayed.

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup
No, since 3.2.2 rom does not use first 16K, and 3.2.3 uses ram from 4K and up.
If the updated 3.2.3 modules are loaded from disk, then in theory it should behave the same as hardware 3.2.3 rom.
Timings might be a bit different since execution from ram is faster.

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup
Difficult to say what's going on, there is the odd ROM on phoenix that appears to be on and off in some cases, what's that ?
Also strange your DENiSE chip gets identified differently and sometimes fails to report, that's not a good sign
As for changes, there are a few, but in theory nothing that ...

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup
So then, to see where s-s fails, you can try to boot with TRACE mode enabled.
Can the order of attached cards be change ?
Would be interesting to see ShowConfig output for your hardware under 3.2.2 and then 3.2.3 rom
that could shed some light as to what is allocated where

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup
Hard to say, faster roms are usually better, you get trouble if they are slow.
Can you use softkicked rom ? That will rule out potential hardware issue.
Are all expansions detected correctly at boot menu and working ok ?
Also try safe boot, and see if that gives errors.

Re: Titties and beer?
We now have a CheckInstall script that shows if all OS related files are installed and of correct revision, hope that helps.

Upcoming 3.2.3 should resolve this.
