Possible bug when renaming with AsyncWB

Post by mrupp »

Hi there

I think I found a small bug in OS 3.2.3 when renaming a file and AsyncWB is running. It should not be possible to enter a / or : char in the renaming textfield, but it is.
Steps to reproduce:
  • ensure that AsyncWB is running
  • select a file or drawer and call "Rename" from the "Icon" menu
  • try to enter a / character, the screen will blink and the / char has not been entered (correct behaviour)
  • press and release shift key
  • try to enter a / char once more and it will be possible (but shouldn't)
The same goes for the : char when renaming or creating a new drawer.
I couldn't reproduce this if AsyncWB was not running (different rename dialog), and not with OS 3.9 or 4.1 running AsyncWB, either, so it seems this is a bug in the current AsyncWB v47.52 that ships with OS 3.2.3.

Cheers,
Michael

This problem exist in all versions of OS since 3.5 and including 4.1u3.
There are many ways to enter illegal chars in requesters that could cause all sorts of funny effects.
A solution in future updates of AsyncWB has been implemented that takes care of those issues.
