Many thanks for testing! Could you please try the kernel 3.19? Download: vmlinux-3.19.0-KVM-PR-AMIGA_one_X1000.tar.bz2Epsilon wrote:Hi there,
I followed the instructions for installing Ubuntu Mate 15.10 on the X1000 this week, using the 4.2 kernel as per the instructions. The installation does work, but like AlicePPC I also don't get a X-Windows GUI, just a black screen that flashes every few seconds. If I do the CTRL-ALT-F1 thing I get a terminal session I can login to.
Like AlicePPC, I also can't run X-configure as no card found, and see the same problems. I have the 4.2 kernel loaded onto my CF card, and loaded in the X1000 menu as per the instructions in the guide (thanks for this btw - very helpful).
I have a Radeon R9 250X installed if that helps. Because I need this card for the Warp3D Southern Island support under AmigaOS4.1 on the X1000, I don't want to remove it just to run linux. I understand from other threads it is not working right now?

sudo apt-get install upstart-sysv

Yes, ok to proceed is correct. Could you tell me when does the extra dialog box appears?Epsilon wrote: FYI I note that an extra dialog box appears on my install that was not mentioned in the instructions - a prompt saying the kernel wasn't detected or something (?) and that the partition would not boot without it, ok to proceed?
