I successfully tested the RC2 in a virtual e5500 QEMU PowerPC machine with Bochs VGA (-device VGA,vgamem_mb=256) and after that with the VirtIO GPU:

Hi All,

I have released the stable longterm kernel 5.10.218.

Download: github.com

This kernel has been patched with the dpaa-v2.patch because of an issue with DPAA on Ubuntu 16.04.

It's suitable for old Linux distributions which don't work with the latest kernels for example Ubuntu 10.04.
It's also suitable if you have some issues with the latest kernels.

@Roland
Could you please test this kernel? I want to make sure that it works for you.

@All
Of course you can also test it.

Thanks,
Christian

Ooh, something NEW going wrong. My 3.0 GB Volume, where I keep working kernels, contains uImage-6.10. Fienix's /lib/modules has 6.10.0-rc2-powerpc64-smp. System monitor says I'm running Kernel Linux 6.9.0-powerpc64-smp ppc64.

What might have gone wrong?

You have booted the kernel 6.9. Do you use the U-Boot variable “linuxboot”?
If yes, you have to modify it.

Could you please give a direct link to the downloadable package? I cannot find it from the general github links above.

I finally remembered that I had to editenv "6.9" to "6.10" somewhere, so now I am running 6.10 successfully. I can't believe how much I am forgetting these days! Raging dementia.

I haven't been using linuxboot, but I guess I'll set it up as you suggest. I'll still go to Commands and "run fienix."

It took me a long time to figure out how to download rc2, but I can't remember how I did it, and now I can't get rc3! Hint, please.
