Hi,
During the startup of your x1000,

You mean the image is lower resolution, right?

That is because the developers only have a small amount of memory available for the boot image and have reduced the resolution to fit. Also it depends on your monitor size/display.

Yes, it's exactly that.
I thought that it could be another symptom of my HD5450'problem, but no, it's normal.

I just installed a 6850 in my X1000. The monitors tab in screenmode prefs is greyed out. Is it the same for you?
Yes, it is/was the same for me.

And...... something wierd/else.

Due to these old eyes, I found the best screenmode was 1366x768 on the 4850 card that came with my X1000. When I installed the 6850 it was no longer available (RATS!) I renamed the monitor icon in Devs/Monitors to Radeon HD 68 and POP! there it was 1366x768. Rename back to Radeon HD 6 and it's gone. Radeon HD 68,,, it's back. Nice. :D

So I went a little further and changed to the following setting under the 'Icon' heading of the Icon Information "BOARDNAME=Radeon HD 6800", as reported by Ranger, and now the Monitors tab works for Screenmode prefs.
