Gadget bug reintroduced in Update 4

Post by samo79 »

Update 3 fixed a long standing (small) bug visible on certain UI gadget (getfile.gadget ?), for example the GUI of Visual Boy Advance emulator, in short certain gadget was cutted and need an extra click on them to become completely visible

See example:

This problem was fixed with Update 3 but it was "reintroduced" again on Update 4 so i think it need to be fixed again for the next release ;)

Why do you think it is a gadget fault?

Have you tried it with other languages? What version of getfile_gc was "right" and which versions are "wrong" ?

Well to be honest i'm not sure if the problem is really caused by a specific gadget or somethings else, i presume that from the content of the Update 4 (many gadgets files in Classes directory was updated)
This problem was surely fixed in Update 3 (with Update 2 i had the same issue) but then it come back with Update 4

Yep i set my system in english but problem still, see grab

The difficulty for us is that we can't reproduce a fault unless we have the program that fails. It may be a problem with the program itself (although, I admit, it sounds like a gadget problem).

Can you copy the getfile_gc.gadget from Update 3 into your current Update 4 Classes/gadgets directory, reboot and see if it changes? Rename the old version first so that you don't have to go searching to replace it.

Update 3's version was V53.7 (10/12/2009).
Update 4's version was V53.11 (16/09/2011).

Edit:
1) Can you widen the window? What happens?
2) Can you reduce the font size? What happens?
3) Who wrote this program? Have you contacted the author?

Just tried but still the same, maybe some other gadget is involved ?
I can try to replace gadget per gadget altrough it would be a bit annoying and maybe i can broken my system after reboot :|

I can try eventually if that can help

1) No because the window is not resizable (as you can see on the screenshot i posted)
2) Tried aswell but problem still the same on Update 4
3) Author of the GUI is Vicente 'Ami603' Gimeno

I didn't contact him yet but AFAIK he is on the OS4 team (?)

Don't go changing system files any more, it's too dangerous.

I'll contact Vicente and alert him to this thread.

Submit a ticket/bug report for what? Unless I can reproduce the fault and satisfy myself that it is caused by a particular gadget, I can't test whether it is fixed later.

I can see that getfile.gadget was V53.11 in Update 4 and not updated in Update 5, but it was V53.10 in Update 3 (not V53.7 as I said before). Have you tried V53.10 instead of V53.11?

Have you contacted Vicente again? I can't test or reproduce it here without Vicente's program. It would be better if he submitted a bug report.

There were no problem on the Update 3, so yes using getfile.gadget 53.10 all was ok (i have this version on my Update 3 archive) altrough as you suggest i didn't try to mix old gadgets with the new updates !
In short problem start again with Update 4 and it was a regression since this was a fix for a fault gadget of the Update 1

So to semplify 1 of this gadget (i presume this getfile.gadget but i'm not sure) is broken again since Update 4, you or Vicent might look into it

No i never contact him because a couple of post above you said: "I'll contact Vicente and alert him to this thread."

You don't need any special, just download the Visual Boy Advance GUI and try it yourself
