Update 4 Installing Problems

I got some problems during the U4 Installation, here they are:

1) I have a problem during the installation, i am not able to install RUAE using the Update4 Installer as i get a GR and i am not able to continue the installation process, it freezes.

2) The installer makes a backup of the KickLayout file of my system but the new kicklayout file does some mistakes, like disabling the df0 device and the 4-EIDE device, this because the lines about these devices are commented, so when i reboot my system i am without the DF0 device (and also PC0) and the second IDE port.

3) if I try to re-install the U4 (to install RUAE with U4 installer), the installer after few seconds automatically quits closing the installer window.

4) When i double click on the utility "No Drive Click" it opens an empty console and the click is still there, i have to click it two times to make it works

For the moment that's all, if i find other "Bugs/Problems" i'll tell you

Thanks for the report. Have you tried installing RunInUAE sometime *after* Update 4 is installed?
i.e. Open the "Update 4" folder, then open the "RunInUAE" folder, and then double-click the "Install" icon?

What happens in that case?

P.S. How much free memory do you have after booting AmigaOS?

That test *should* be pointless, because both versions are *supposed* to be identical...

Yes, i can install it running the installer after the u4 has been installed, the problem is that i cannot run the installer from wb but i have to execute it from shell using the command "execute"

I can re-install the update 4 to have the crash log but you have to give me more time has i have to copy my backup (aos 4.1u3) and then re-install u4

OK, it looks like you did NOT use UnArc to unpack Update 4, and so some protection flags were not preserved.

the problem is that i CANNOT uninstall the archive with unarc so i had to unpack it on the pc with WINRAR and then copy it on a cd-rom and run it on the amiga.. that's it.. btw even flagging the executable and readable flags in the icon i wasn't able to run it on the wb.. i had to use the shell and the command execute..

And why can't you unarc the whole archivec with UnARC ?

Everytime i tried to unpack the archive with unarc i got an error, it told me that the archive was corrupted..

Have you tried re-downloading it?
