The merge window has been opened this week and it was added a lot of new source code for the future kernel 4.10. Therefore I compiled the first alpha for testing today.
Tested alpha 5 and vmlinux-4.10-alpha2-btrfs.tar.gz.
The btrfs one did more tests on boot time but didn't provide an answer or a hint as you say. Alpha 5 of course didn't work either.
I suspect Systemd is involved (maybe because it usually is) as I get "random seed failed" on the boot log.
I also think about doing a new format with btrfs on a new partition and check mate on btrfs to rule out a basic bug about any btrfs partition not just mine.
Next step is both trying some btrfs stuff with the live dvd on my current partition (repair and stuff) and you enabling another option in btrfs (the next one in line) while disabling the general posix (I read about it and it might interfere with btrfs and you didn't have it enabled on 4.7).
