I cannot update to 5

Dear all,

I'm probably the only Amiga User/ Fan in Korea or even all of Far East Asia. So, I only got this forum left.

I bought a Sam 460ex, with a Radeon HD 1MB, 2 GB RAM and 160 GB HD from an Italian banker named Luigi.

The Amiga arrived with heavy damages on its Commodore case, but works fine after replacing the hard disc.

He put in a legal version of Amiga OS 4.1 update 2. After update 5 the screen goes blank.

U-Boot is using the Radeon card for starting up the Kickstart. After the kickstart takes off, the screen for onboard VGA goes blank.

I connected the Radeon card on HDMI and onboard with VGA.

I ordered Update 8 ages ago, but shipment time from Europe to Korea takes 4/5 weeks
I'm thankful for any idea how to fix it...

If it works on update 4 and you have update 8 coming, why not just leave it as is and then install the new version when it arrives? You can't install it over the top of a current install anyway.

I ordered and paid Amiga OS 4.1 update 8 almost a month ago at Alinea Computers. Mr. Simon Neumann's service is awesome and the shipment via DHL over Frankfurt cargo quick,but the problem is Korea.

Korea has no free market economy, the customs authorities already keep my parcel for weeks in custody (for reasons of national security (what the fuck!)). Korea post doesn't co-operate with DHL or any international parcel service company. So, I have to keep waiting and waiting, because Hyperion Entertainment is not willing to sell their products as an iso download.

Sitting frustrated in front my not working Amiga one...alone and outcasted.

Boot your Sam with your AmigaOS4.1 update 2 CD with the onboard vga video connected to your monitor.
Select the option to load the Workbench. Once Workbench loads copy the PCIGraphics.card file from the CD System/Kickstart
directory to the System/Kickstart directory on your hard drive .Remove the OS 4.1 update 2 CD and reboot with the onboard video.
Read below to se the next step to get the Radeon Hd 6670 working.

I am just noticing from your Sig that you have a Radeon HD6670.
If you dont have Radeon HD driver 1.0 or later then it wont work with this video card.
You would need to purchase the newer Radeon HD driver unless the previous owner included it with your purchase on some media .

Did you use the Radeon HD 6670 video card or the onboard video to update from Amiga OS 4.1 update 2 ?

Two things to try.

(1) Try connecting the Radeon via VGA or DVI. The older driver may not work with HDMI .
(2) There is a bug in update 5 for the on board video PCIGraphics.card file.
you have to use the original version to boot with the onboard video card.
It is on the Amiga OS 4.1 update2 CD in the System/Kickstart directory .

finally my parcel arrived with Amiga OS 4.1 update 8 final version. It is an awesome update!!!

Now everything works like a charm, even output over HDMI directly from the graphics card. Only problem is now, that I cannot change the screen mode, because only screen mode is allowed with the drivers in this update.

Anyway, I ordered and already paid an order with Amiga Kit. After passing two weeks, I sent them an unfriendly reminder, what the heck happened to my shipment

They changed the salesperson and confirmed yesterday that the shipment is on its way to Korea. I hope I never need to buy with Amiga Kit again, but they are the only ones who have Quake 2 in stock.

Sounds more like North Korea to me

I've had both good and less good experience with AmigaKit but my last order was processed and delivered extremely fast, so my general impression of their service remains positive. Give them a chance

The FE install disk comes with a cut down RadeonHD driver to enable booting, to gain access to the full screen modes you need to reinstall the radeonHD driver you already have purchased, or upgrade to the version 2 driver which gives access to the faster video performance.
