Hi there. This might be a little out of the blue, but in AmigaOS 4.1 Update 6, there wasn't a problem to run the "very old" OctaMED SoundStudio V1.0.3c through the Petunia JIT emulator.
In AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition, i can use the old OctaMED SoundStudio up to 5 minutes, then a GR shows up, i try to ignore it, and the system freezes.
I suppose it might be because of the new features that are part of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition? The way it now handle things naturally?
I assume this would mean i would have to wait for the PPC AmigaOS4 version of OctaMED SoundStudio that A-EON has accquired and which seem to be on the way?
All my partitions are SFS2. I formatted all my partitions and copied my programs and stuffs where they are to be, without overwriting new stuffs.

You could try disabling it from running with Petunia in SYS:Prefs/Compatibility preferences.HKvalhe wrote:Hi there. This might be a little out of the blue, but in AmigaOS 4.1 Update 6, there wasn't a problem to run the "very old" OctaMED SoundStudio V1.0.3c through the Petunia JIT emulator.

That's one possibility, but i tried that and it didn't make much of a difference, as the program made the system freeze. Even if it didn't happen within the program, when quiting OctaMED SoundStudio to get back to Workbench, it did freeze.xenic wrote:You could try disabling it from running with Petunia in SYS:Prefs/Compatibility preferences.HKvalhe wrote:Hi there. It is possible to believe that because of the new features of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition and the new way it handles several taskes, that some part of old software compatibility has been sacrified?

I just hope that compatibility for major applications like PageStream, TurboCalc, ImageFX & FinalWriter hasn't been sacrificed. My FE is still in the mail, so I won't know for a few days.HKvalhe wrote:It is possible to believe that because of the new features of AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition and the new way it handles several taskes, that some part of old software compatibility has been sacrified?

Most programs work just fine so far, so only experienced this with OctaMED SoundStudioxenic wrote:I just hope that compatibility for major applications like PageStream, TurboCalc, ImageFX & FinalWriter hasn't been sacrificed. However, i noticed i was using the RadeonHD 6670 monitor driver from DEVS:Monitors. Now i am just using the new unified RTG monitor driver that uses on-chip DMA structure from the GPU of the graphic board, and moved all the other monitor drivers that were in DEVS:Monitors to Storage:Monitors

Who knows, perhaps that has much to say also?

You can add AmigaAmp to the FE crashing list, at least for me
edit : and my aTunes_Cover, too (solved)
Does AmigaAmp works for you ?
Thanks

I can only think it's only natural that as an OS is modernizing more and more to todays' standards, some compatibility is always sacrified, so that could explain it.
But a PPC AmigaOS4 native version of OctaMED SoundStudio is on the way, thanks to A-EON acquired a license to port it and further develop it

I still see "X1000 - AmigaOS 4.1.6" at the bottom of your post. It might be time to updatezzd10h wrote:You can add AmigaAmp to the FE crashing list, at least for me
