Sam 440 and radeon 9250 help

I've been using os4.1.5 for a week now and I've just popped an ati 9250 in the pic slot but...

I've read I should add the radeon monitor driver to monitors and ati.chip to kickstart

However now...

The Sam boots to the desktop and says cant assign amiga and locks up or it boots to desktop and freezes...

Obviously something is wrong? Both files are from the os4.1 update 1 cd.

Strangely the os4.1.1 boot cd boots to workbench and displays, 512mb ram / radeon 9250 128mb with no problems.

I don't understand what the error message you describe is saying.

Could you try again, this time quoting it exactly (preferably within "double quotes" or similar), or alternatively posting a picture or screenshot of it?

Sorry - spell checker kicked in.

The Sam boots but freezes solid on the workbench screen with the error - can't assign amiga. ( keyboard & mouse don't work)

But if I boot from os4.1 update cd , the card is reported as a 9250 and the sam works well.

I have put the Radeon driver in devs/monitors and copied Ati radeon.chip file in to kickstart - this info was found online.( i copied the files from the os4.1.1 update cd)

It will still boot via the onboard graphics and function properly if the radeon is removed.

Hmm, I'm still not sure which error you're getting. I have never seen an error saying "can't assign amiga", and I have a hard time guessing what it could cover.

Since you can't describe it exactly enough for me to get it, how about a picture?

I would suggest to install again AmigaOS 4.1 with the Radeon 9250 PCI card inserted.
