Open/Drag Screen Problem / FinalWriter 95

Hello All,

I am having a problem with ScreenDragging and opening under FinalWriter/OS4.1upd5 X1000 FirstContact. This problem does not exist under OS4.1 upd 4 / SAM440 - onboard GFX:

Dragged FinalWriter drawer from my old HD SAM440 to new X1000 HD, opened it, and choose an 32Bit Screen:
1) FW opens a Screen, everything looks allright for a quarter of a second
2) Screen dissapears
3) display is black
4) Screen reapears
5) Screen depth Gadget is on the left side -> 1/8th of the right side of the screen is displayed on the left (instead of right)
6) Once I use the flip screens via Amiga+M and back screen looks O.k. again, however
7) dragging the FW Screen always switches to Workbench, once FW screen hits the top (WB titlebarsize) of display. E.g. I drag FW Screen down -> will then switch to WB / Switching back to FW Screen enables me to drag it further down an up with no problems, expect if I drag it to the very top. Then it will flip back to WB ?

This doesn't happen on my SAM, Plus I cannot take screenshots as once you flip back everything is alright again. As FinalWriter is vital for me, any ideas/suggestions would be highly appreciated !

I'm using FW97 which generally works OK.

This sounds like your monitor is having to resync. This usually happens when you switch to a screenmode with a different resolution, depth or scan rate. If the monitor cannot fully handle your new screenmode, then that would explain at least some of your problems.

I suggest checking what screenmode Final Writer is using, and trying to make it use the same one as Workbench.

I tried a whole lot different (32bit) Screenmode and even 2 different monitors. However, currently I use "like Workbench", when Screenmoderequester pops up, while opening FW

O.k. totally fresh reinstall of OS4.1upd5 X1000... very strange. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I cannot really reproduce it. Sometimes when dragging WB Screen in order to see FW Screen (put corrupted screen to back via Amiga+m), I get a black screen (so FW Screen seems not to be there any more). But even that behaviour is not reproduceable. The only thing reproduceable is (as mentioned before):

When FW Screen gets dragged to the very top, I'll get a black screen for a split second and then it reappears. This however suggests that ChrisH is somehow on the right track, but I donnot know how to cope with that. BTW: no screens (besides default) defined in "Screens Preferences" (but even if you do that, it doesn't help of course).

Perhaps it is a bug in RadeonHD driver. In which case a beta tester with a copy of Final Writer (I don't) & a RadeonHD card needs to reproduce it before it can get fixed...

Could you unset the tooltype BORDEROFF from the FW exec, and test again.

Well done,... this is it . Now it works like it should. Thanx. However should we put this on "solved", or is it still a BUG inside the Radeon Driver ?
