Seams as if the reason for the problem under linux with Radeon HD series cards on the Sam440ep-flex is that there is no Radeon HD firmware on the Debian installer and the Sam440eo has a problem with firmare built into the kernel.Thus the installer could not boot.
The initial installation could be done with a Radeon 9250 and the Radeon firmware would be installed during the installation.
allowing you to change cards after the initial installation up to the 4000 series but not beyond.

What I have done is to add the firmware for to the installer and ensure that is is copied to the linux firmware directory on the hard drive .

Ok you wrote none radeon above 4000 series. What about the onboard graphics or another radeon e.g. 9250 pci to pcie adapter or older radeon hd. Is there a chance?
