Just a reminder: there is a possibility of the next kernel having amdgpu for GCN 1.0 without being enabled by default. Maybe you will be able to enable it for us so we can test if it fixes anything.
AMDGPU support is already included in our kernel 4.7 but I have to figure out how I can enable it. Thank you for the hint and thank you for testing the RC5 kernels.

Hi all,

Darren's second patch is in the latest PowerPC update (powerpc-4.7-5 commit). That means Darren's second patch is in the official kernel source code now.

I am looking forward to compiling the RC6 tomorrow.

Cheers,

Christian

Hi all,

I compiled the RC6 today and it boots. :-) Darren's source code works in the Linux kernel . Many thanks to Darren for his work.

Download: vmlinux-4.7-rc6-AmigaONE_X1000.tar.gz

By the way, I was able to update Firefox to version 47 on openSUSE Tumbleweed PPC64.

Have a nice week!

Hi All,

Linus Torvalds didn't release the RC8 today but I successfully compiled a new RC7 with Darren's patch today.

New:
Download: vmlinux-4.7-rc7-2-AmigaONE_X1000.tar.gz

I tested a lot of things with the kernel 4.7-rc7-2 and it works very well and it is very stable.

Test results:
  • Hardware 3D acceleration works with an AMD Radeon HD6870 (tested with DOOM 3 and SuperTuxKart 0.8.1-2)
  • Sound works (MP3 files, web radio etc)
  • LAN works (Realtek RTL-8139)
  • WLAN works (FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick N)
  • "PR" KVM works (Mac-on-Linux guest: Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger)
  • Compiz works
  • YouTube HD videos work with ViewTube
  • Internal CF card works
  • pas_shutdown works
I testet the RC7-2 with openSUSE Tumbleweed 64-bit, ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS, ubuntu MATE 16.10, and with Debian Sid.

@Darren: Many thanks for your work. I appreciate it very much.

Works good on Mint 11.

My HD with Deb8 and Suse crashed so I don't know about them. I will do a Deb8 base system install so I have access to gcc-4.9 to see if I can build/play with a few changes. I will let you know. :)
