My USB problem is not just on my system, (SAM440EP with no expansions added)
Thomas from AmiBoing experiences similar, but can overide it by using the ports in the back, and a friend on his A1 has issues also,
Any file larger than 3mb generally seems to stay on 0% copied, and the only way to fix this issue is to use the shell command to copy 700 mb or more files across to portable HDD or USB keys.
Even then sometimes it will come up with Disk Error in device USB0 Results Uncertain. Proceed at your own risk. At which point need to restart my system via the Power Button.
After which Theres a long wait, whereby I need to unplug and replug the Portable HDD USB back into a rear port, before proceeding to copy more large files again. It gets better it does not matter weather its a HDD or USB key here either.
As mentioned, I also tested my rear ports, while placing my kybd and mouse to the front ports, still no go, it seems the only way for me to copy anything is to use shell.
Hyperion better fix this for the new users, who are definately going to only use GUI and no command line interfaces.
(Side NOTE:)
BTW, while im at it, thank you Hyperion for continuously supporting and developing Amiga Operating System and expanding the new gen hardware it will and can run on.
Cheers
USB copy and WB progress bar
Re: USB copy and WB progress bar
Perhaps give some more detail about your setup. Such as where your keyboard and mouse are plugged in. And the port your USB drives are plugged in. And if the issue still occurs with a USB hub attached. A USB 1.x hub will cancel out any USB2 driver issues should they occur.
Also, if the shell is fine, what other software also works? Have you tested apps like DirOpus or AmiDisk? That would be easier than CLI.
If the problem is limited to the Workbench, then perhaps try disabling items run in WBStartup, to see if any may be causing conflict.
And the best way of isolating the problem is to install a fresh copy of AmigaOS4 Update 3 onto a spare partition and see if the problem still occurs. If so then it would be AmigaOS at fault.
You could also check Utilities/LogViewer for any USB issues. Though a copy might not show up. And also try and see if the Snoopy program can find any problems while you attempt to copy.

I was testing USB transfers for another thread in this forum and haveGebrochen wrote:My USB problem is not just on my system, (SAM440EP with no expansions added)
no problems transfering a 1.4GB single file to/from USB/DVD/HD in all
combinations using front or rear ports.
Sam440ep
OS4.1up3
Using WB only, (after selecting 'show all' to have an icon).
Could you remove all devices except Kbd&Mouse, reboot, and then plug-in only
the device your trying to transfer to. At that point copy your usb.log and
paste it here ?

Here is a edited USB log. It contains only the right side entries.

What do you mean by thay? And what were you doing in this log?mechanic wrote:Here is a edited USB log. It contains only the right side entries.
I see no update to this issue so it looks like the progres bar hasn't moved.

Re: USB copy and WB progress bar
I edited the log to remove some non essential info and added some '****'Hypex wrote:

notes as to what is going on as devices are inserted and removed from USB.
I asked for a copy of his log to maybe see if there was a USB problem.
Perhaps the problem is already solved.

Okay I see, mechanic wrote:I edited the log to remove some non essential info
And a result from disabling swap also.mechanic wrote:I asked for a copy of his log to maybe see if there was a USB problem.
No it's still ongoing. It's just moved int the other Update 3 issue thread. But it should have stayed here.mechanic wrote:Perhaps the problem is already solved.
Re: USB copy and WB progress bar
Okay we tried disabling swap. A t first it lookedl ike it worked when I copied a large file over. About 750MB. Then I cold rebooted to be sure swap was disabled and tried to copy a directory with a few same size AVI files onto a USB key. It started, but then stalled, and the light was stuck on the USB key. That didn't look good. It looked like OS4 had crashed the USB key if such a thing were possible.
So doesn't look like swap was the problem. Keep searching I guess.

I'm at a lossHypex wrote: So doesn't look like swap was the problem. Keep searching I guess.

Er.....Just some info here.
I use FAT12 or 16 for all my USB mem keys. Had some problems with 32 but don't recall
exactly what they were. I also do the format using Linux, Gparted or Fdisk.

Sorry I was referring to a post you made in another Sam thread:mechanic wrote:I'm at a loss

Where you suggested to disable swap. So I tested this on his machine and it made no change.
