Re: New kernels
Hi All,
I am happy to release the final kernel 6.19.0 for X1000 and e5500 machines (X5000/20, X5000/40, Mirari, and QEMU VMs).
Download and further information: github.com
Thanks a lot to Skateman and Hypex for testing the alphas and release candidates.

Cheers,
Christian

Re: New kernels
Hi All,
I compiled the alpha2 of kernel 7.0 with the first PowerPC updates and DRM updates for X1000 and e5500 machines (X5000/20, X5000/40, Mirari, and QEMU VMs) today.

Re: New kernels
So tested the final 6.19 that is working well as expected on Mate and Debian. I'll get onto testing the 7.0 alphas next.
In addition I've tested the 6.12.68 kernel which is working fine on Xenial from which I'm typing this now.
I did see a glitch from my boot loader when unpacking the 6.19.0 kernel for Debian which froze. But I walked away to make a coffee so don't know if it was stuck before it unpacked or after. I'm not sure what is causing it as I randomly find it gets stuck unpacking a kernel. Sometimes in the middle. Then I reboot and the exact same procedure works. These random glitches annoy me.

Re: New kernels
Hi All,
Here is the alpha4 of kernel 7.0 for X1000 and e5500 machines (X5000/20, X5000/40, Mirari, and QEMU VMs).
Download and further information: github.com
We were previously able to disable PREEMPT in the kernel configuration because of issues with KVM PR and KVM HV, but the latest kernels now enable it by default and it is no longer possible to disable it.
I created a bug report and a patch for disabling PREEMPT today. KVM PR and KVM HV work without any problems with the patched alpha4.

Please test the kernels.
Thanks,
Christian
