Hi All,

I am happy to release the final kernel 6.18.0 for X1000 and e5500 machines (X5000/20, X5000/40, Mirari, and QEMU VMs).

Download and further information: github.com

Thanks a lot to Skateman, Roland and Hypex for testing the alphas and release candidates.

Hi All,

The merge window for the kernel 6.19 has been started and here is the first alpha with the first DRM updates for testing.

Download and further information: github.com

The Radeon HD 7xxx graphics cards, including the Rx 300 series, have been moved from the old Radeon driver to the AMDGPU driver.

Our kernel packages don’t have the AMDGPU driver because it doesn’t have big endian support. (byte swapping of firmwares)

I think you use the fbdev driver for the 7xxx cards.

Please test the kernels with your Radeon graphics cards.

Thanks,
Christian

I successfully tested the alpha1 with my Radeon HD5870 and with my Radeon HD6870 today.
Hardware 3D acceleration works well with both cards.

Please test the alpha1 with your Radeon card.

So I've just spent some time catching up with latest kernels.

Tested final 6.18 and installed to Xenial for testing. Found it works fine with Xenial. No problems encountered.

Tested latest 6.19 alphas 1 and 2 on my MATE 2017 and Mint 2025 installs. While keeping in mind latest changes of move to AMD driver for Radeon chipsets. So far, on my R7 250, both initial alphas boot fine, run well, appear stable, are fluent on desktop and present no immediate issues. :-D

Does it mean that amdgpu kernel driver really work on Big Endian ? If yes, it is very good news!
