New kernels

Hi All,

The merge window is over. Linus Torvalds has released the RC1 of kernel 6.18 for testing.

I have compiled it for X1000 and e5500 machines (X5000/20, X5000/40, Mirari, and QEMU VMs).

The kernel developers have activated the power management for all devices connected to PCI and PCI Express.
Unfortunately not all devices are working with these modifications. For example AMD Radeons HD6870 and HD5870. There are some kernels available with different patches for testing.

Hi All,

I have compiled the RC1-2 of kernel 6.18 for X1000 and e5500 machines (X5000/20, X5000/40, Mirari, and QEMU VMs) without the power management for PCI and PCI Express (CONFIG_PCIEASPM and CONFIG_PCIEASPM_DEFAULT).

Disabling both kernel options resolved the boot and performance issues.

I was able to test the RC1-2 of kernel 6.18 with MintPPC32 on the Mirari board at the AMIGA 40.

It works very well.

Does the kernels published here include a copy of e2fsck, and is it possibly used for the initial check of the boot (root) partition?
If yes, what version of e2fsck is included with kernel 6.12.48? Does it support the 'C-12' feature which has caused nasty problems with MintPPC 25? If it doesn't support 'C-12', would it be possible to update that program in the kernel?

No, it is an userland program. It belongs to the Linux userlands.

I see... How about the uInitrd, then? There must be some explanation to the issue... The e2fsck available at the 'CRepair:/#' prompt has version 1.46.5, whereas the one installed on Mint25 filesystem is 1.47.2-3!

Where is that '1.46.5' hiding?!
