Mirari (New PPC hardware)

Post by Roland »

There was info about new PPC hardware, capable of running Linux:

http://www.amiga-news.de/en/news/AN-202 ... 29-EN.html

Very interesting!-)

@Skateman

Could you please tell us more about your product here, especially concerning Linux, and when this product possibly will be available for customers...?

If the T2081 processor (e6500) is chosen, does it then have also altivec?! That would solve many problems/limitations we have currently with e5500.

It is not new. :-D It has been tested here for some time. ;-) Nobody noticed it. :-)

We have renamed our Linux kernel packages from ...X5000... to ...e5500.. some time ago.

Please look:

:o

So about a month? Well I don't take much notice of X5000 forum since I grab my kernel from X1000 section. On top of being unknown none of us average testers have one in our hands. ;-)

What video card are you going to use? The one that you use now is 13 years old…

Since there are no drivers for PowerPC Linux and the newer generation of GPUs, we have to stick with what the kernel supports at the moment.
