some X5000 problems

I used to get sound on my X5000. But since my major crash two or three years ago I no longer get sound in the Linux side. (I was getting it in OS4 sometimes if it recognized the file type.) I'm certain that I used to get wifi and/or bluetooth, too. If I could find a way to get at least sound back again I could spend a lot more time on my X5000 and far less in Windows on my laptop. Any hints?

Have you copied the kernel modules directory to /lib/modules after a kernel update?

The second thing I always do when I get a new kernel de-archived is copy anything like these:

into /lib/modules. Are those what you would call "kernel modules directories"? I don't think of them as directories, but if not then I have no idea where to find such things.

I seem to recall my sound problem being attributed to my Radeon something-or-other not working any more. I used to know how to find out what kind of radeon it is, but I can barely remember my own name anymore. I wonder if I could get sound if I replaced that. Heck, I'm not even 100% sure I've got the speaker jack plugged in the right place. After I post this I'm going to switch to OS4 and see if I still get sound there.

Have you sound on OS4?

When I boot OS4 I get the start-up music loud and clear. I can also play mp3's, but several other formats including tiff's just crash the machine to the point where I can move cursor arrow but clicking on things has no result. I have to reboot the machine.

I screen-dumped a .png copy of lsmod but Add files refuses to post it. And "You may also attach files by dragging and dropping them in the message box" is a lie, today at least. Fortunately Shif^Ctrl^C seems to work, except for spacing. Actually the spacing comes out fairly well too, but disappears in the Preview:

Your lsmod output looks ok.

Have you tried a differtent jack output from your sound card?
