I'm not running Candi - it uses 40% of my X1000 CPU in normal mode (and still 20% in "low power" mode, which then looks poor anyway). Good for a five minute demo only

There is also this only recently discovered/described bug in the date command.

For a test round you could comment out "date server blahblah" from network-startup and see if your boot success goes back up to 100%.

That's the reason why my boot process still stalls occasionally (with your described problems).
There is no solution yet, I'm afraid, but it might ease you knowing the root of your problems...
