Unmodified Ubuntu-Mate 16.04.1 Live DVD boots on Sam460ex.
Used kernel 4.8-rc4 and a modified Uboot ramdisk , both booted from a tftp server .
Installer does not work thought .

My Installation method below .

Testing Debian 8 installer ramdisk for Uboot machines .Sam460ex test ok.

Did a base install to a USB thumb drive then copied to hard drive.
Changed the /etc/apt sources to :

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ unstable main contrib non-free

upgraded with :
apt-get update and apt-get -u dist-upgrade

Then installed lxde and mate-desktop-environment
