I don't play any old Amiga games so I've never used the UAE emulation that now comes with OS4. I've never done anything to the Emulation directory or prefs so it's the same as it was when I received my X1000 a year ago. I tried to test an OS3 program under emulation and it wouldn't run. I just get a giant low-res screen that I have to scroll around to see parts of the screen and either a crash when the program starts or nothing happens. When my program failed, I tried other OS3 applications like OS3 Dopus4, TurboCalc and others. Sometimes it asks me to insert Volume FONTS, sometimes the programs crash and other times I just see a console indicating that the program is loading but nothing happens.
Is there some update to the Emulation that I've missed?? Does it work for other people?

@xenic
I second you. I never got my UAE to run well, now when I think of it.
Kind of same symptoms as xenic, any help welcomed.

Re: How to get the OS4 UAE emulation working.
For starters:
If you have an AppIcon called "RuninUAE" lying around somewhere on your Workbench, skip to #2
1) Check if RuninUAE is running
--> Go to System:Emulation/RuninUAE and double-click on "RuninUAE"
2) Now double-click on the AppIcon
--> A Window called "RuninUAE" comes up"
(Now you can check with this window if your program is executed trough RuninUAE)
3) Double-click your program
--> The display in that window should change to "Launching <your program>"
If that isn't the case you can do the following:
4) Drag your program's exe into the RuninUAE window
--> The text should slightly change and now show your program's name in **
(RuninUAE will remember that your program should always be started through RuninUAE)
Go back to #3
If it still doesn't work it might be because your program needs some hardware stuff UAE doesn't have
At least all my games (100% with WHDLoad installed) run.
I haven't tried any applications
And some hints while RuninUAE is running
CTRL+LALT+Q - Quits the emulations
CTRL+LALT+R - Resets the emulation (cold boot inside the emulation)
CTRL+LALT+F1 (F2, F3, F4) - chooses a floppy drive where you can add .adf's which can be accessed inside RuninUAE
If it asks for a FONTS, LIBS, L or whatever dir you might want to install it under the emulation first.
RuninUAE does not access AmigaOS4.x' installation, rather it will look for everything on the internal 3.1 installation.
If needed data, libs, fonts, etc. aren't there it will bail out with errors

Re: How to get the OS4 UAE emulation working.
Its working fine on A1 here. I was playing around with E-UAE source, I should be able to improve speed for lower spec machines.xenic wrote:I don't play any old Amiga games so I've never used the UAE emulation that now comes with OS4. Just need to get some time to play again.
Only thing I couldn't get working was CCDA redirect,

Re: How to get the OS4 UAE emulation working.
As soon as I finish up another project, I'll add missing directories (like FONTS) and try it again. If I can't figure out how to get the giant low-res scroll around screen to display on a normal size screen, it will be fairly useless though.Christopher Follett wrote: Its working fine on A1 here. Re: How to get the OS4 UAE emulation working.
It sounds like some of the programs should work without the need for UAE. Did you install the programs on OS4.1 or did you copy them over from an OS3 setup. If the latter then maybe there are some assigns and libraries, etc missing.xenic wrote:I don't play any old Amiga games so I've never used the UAE emulation that now comes with OS4. Can you list what programs are failing to work and the symptoms of each one.
Turbocalc 3.5 worked last time I tried.
Re: How to get the OS4 UAE emulation working.
@RobMattin
I tried TurboCalc5 again and it complained about missing LOCALE: and FONTS: but it ran. The problem is that the UAE WorkBench Screen is a giant screen that is much larger than the monitor screensize and I have to scroll around the screen to see various parts of Workbench or program windows. It's like opening a standard camera photo in Multiview and needing to scroll the window to see all parts of the picture.
