Re: Sam460ex Linux
Thanks for your work Spectre.
Cannot get your Debian to run on my Sam460 though, as it freezes during creation of the ext3 filesystem. See attachment.
I tried with Marios guides one year ago (http://www.locati.it/mario/sam460/squee ... _do_before) and had the same thing happen, so it's not a specific
problem with your distribution. Was hoping your newer distributiion would install without freezing. Guess it's some kind of small compability issue with my HD, and the linux driver, or the Sam460 hd--interface and the drive.
Haven't noticed anything like that when running AmigaOS 4.x though. It would be interesting to see if other Sam460 users gets this too, or if i'm the only one.

Re: Sam460ex Linux
It might also be relevant to check whether there is a genuine disk error in the area you try to create the ext3 volume on. Have you tried creating an Amiga artition (e.g. an FFS or SFS one) in the same area, formatting (quick) and filling it with data (e.g. copying files from another partition? If at some point you get a write error (or a freeze), it's probably time to buy a new hard disk.
Best regards,
Niels

Updated my signature with the info. (About memory, Yes, I had memoryproblems with before, but changed module and they were solved)Spectre660 wrote:@Morpa
Can you describe your configuration , Video card ? how Much Memory ? Did you get the memory from Acube
What Controller are you using for your Harddrive and CD or Dvd Drive ? Onboard ?
What type of Hardrive ? 3 .5'' or 2.5'' or is it an SSD .
What Size partition are you using for Linux ?
Partitions are 1) SFS\00 12gb, 2)JFX 125gb 3) ext3 94gb 4) lin swap rest free space
Also tried with a SIL3512 SATA controller, same result.
Also tried installing on an 2,5 SSD-drive i had, but uboot couldn't seem to find it.
No diskerrors, verified drive with testtools in other computer.

Im interested In an installer for ubu/debian.
What I am also interested in is being able to use linux without a radeon card at all - just the std onboard chip - I dont care about 3d, otherwise I would buy a radeon card - when finances permit - are you able to consider lil' old me spectre?
