Whenever I select "Update software..." from the Workbench menu, it tells me my date format is old, and I should let it convert to YYYY-MM-DD format.
I click Continue and wait awhile, then click the icon that has appeared in my Dock. Now what! I am asked for my AmiUpdate user name and password. I have no idea how to get such things!

Username and password are the same as your hyperion loginskilaueabart wrote:Whenever I select "Update software..." from the Workbench menu, it tells me my date format is old, and I should let it convert to YYYY-MM-DD format.

As for the "old format" behaviour...i had this too.
Start AmiUpdate
Start System Rollback
Look for any entries that are not yyyy-mm-dd and either delete them or rename them from their actually dir
This will solve the message

Re: A couple of AmiUpdate problems?
I was very pleased to get your instructions. It sounded like an easy fix. But I guess I am not smart enough to follow them.
When I start System Rollback, a window opens with RollBack dates in a column in a sub-window on the left:
2013-10-07
2013-07-16
2013-07-08
2013-07-08
2012-12-06
When I click on the top, "Ranger" appears to the right, but if it has a bad date format, I have no idea where to find it or how to fix. If I "Find" Ranger, I get a list of nine relevant files, and all have the "bad" date format in the Find window, but I don't imagine there is any way to change that. If I look at Ranger Information, it says "Last change: Monday October 7 2013 3:43 PM, but there is obviously no way to change that.
2013-07-16 leaves an empty list window, as does the first 2013-07-08. The second 2013-07-08 lists 32, mostly very important, files, but again, no obvious dates to change. 2012-12-06 lists just AmiUpdate.
Where am I going wrong, failing to understand your instruction?

Bollocks, we can do this, mankilaueabart wrote:I was very pleased to get your instructions. It sounded like an easy fix. But I guess I am not smart enough to follow them.

Sorry, i need to be more precise. When I start System Rollback, a window opens with RollBack dates in a column in a sub-window on the left:

Ok, lets do this step by step
1) Open up AmiUpdate
2) Bring up the pull-down menu (right mouse button)
You should see "Project - Updates - Settings - Servers"
3) Choose "Settings"
4) Choose "Open Preferences"
5) Open the tab "Install and Rollback"
Look under "Rollback", you should see the path where the rollback files are stored
6) Open that directory
Now you should see lots of dirs with the same name as in the Rollback list
7) Look for the one (or many) that are *not* called "yyyy-mm-dd"
You got two choices here now.
*If* you find at least one that has the "wrong" name, you can either
rename them so they fit the others
or
delete them (If renaming them still gives you the error, but it shouldn't)
(Especially when they hold 3rd party software, you can get the them afterwards on the and it's still installed anyway)
8) Reboot and see if the error still comes up

@Raziel: Bravo! I wish MOST instructions were provided with this level of detail.

@Raziel
Thanks. Sorry I'm so dense, but that's only gonna get worse.
In any event, it's fixed. One of those things listed in the main Rollback window as 2013-07-08 was 7-8-2013 in System/AmiUpdate/RollBack. I changed it to 2013-08-07, thinking to avoid a conflict. I may find out later if that means trouble.

You'll never see this error again, except if AmiUpdate changes it's data structure again

Glad it's fixed, now have fun again with your miggy

Unfortunately most of us forget that not everyone is an expert, even when he/she is already around for some time.Bravo! I wish MOST instructions were provided with this level of detail.
I'll keep doing my best
Thank you very much
