I use AmigaNetFS (found on Aminet) between all my AmigaOS machines, that usually works nicely for transferring files - the advantage over FTP (which Lyle suggests) being that the files keep their timestamps and protection bits.
But if you have really large amounts to transfer, hooking up your drive directly is probably preferable. And yes, both the IDE and the SATA interfaces should be fully compatible with those on your A1. You don't mention whether you SiI card is an IDE (0680) or a SATA (3112/3114/3512) one, but all should be bog standard and let you move the disks over to the X1000.
thank you all. I tried to configure different ftp servers on my A1 and could not acces them from my SAM. Unable to configure the server correctly.
BTW, the Sil is IDE
They should hook up just fine to the IDE port on the X1000 motherboard, where they will be seen by the sb600ide.device.
Just make sure you set the master/slave jumpers on the drives correctly depending on which of the plugs on the cable each one uses. And do use proper 80-lead PATA cables.
