Contextmenu crash

Try this with activated context menu commodity:

- Start MUIOWB
- iconify MUIOWB
- bring forth the context menu on the MUIOWB appicon

For me it is crashing badly.
If it not hangs solid, this crashlog appear:

Partly confirmed on X1000 with latest public OS version. I don't get a "solid hang", but on one occasion I did get a DSI similar to yours, which could be Continue'd.

The good news is that when booting the latest beta, I can't reproduce it. So whatever the problem, it seems to have been solved there.

(The less good news - for you - is that there's no telling when/if that version of ContextMenus will be released to the public.)

ooh.. I really hope this "if that version of ContextMenus will be released to the public.)" reads like "a potential even more updated version of ContextMenus might get developed maybe re-introducing the bug" in contrast to "maybe no more AmigaOS updates will get released, ever"

Heh ... officially I cannot comment, but personally I would think (hope) that even if the bug got re-introduced for some strange reason, that we beta-testers would be alert enough to catch it before such a version would get released, now that we know about it.

And about your second alternative, honestly, now you're just being paranoid. Look back on the last six months.

Yes. They've integrated AmiUpdate in the OS only to never release any other updates, ever

I belive that this happens every iconified app. Netsurf, AmiSystemRestore etc.

Right click iconified program and OS crashes immediately.

It all discussed in some other topics already which i cant find now, but in brief:

We have 2 version of context menu: public one (old one), and beta-one (new one). the code in them are different. that bug happens sometime ago and on new one , too, and was fixed (and yep, it happens on all apps , does not matter what one). But no fix was done for previous (old-public-one), and i think the reasons is that developer do not want to spend a time to a version which already old and will be replaced and will avail in os4.2.

I know its suck to have bug right now, but that how is it now.

You are right, I apologize for the silly comment. Sometimes the mood from other forums sloops over and I fear Ben Hermans will loose interest or too much money.. I will refrain from writing such comments again.
