Came to turn on my Amiga this evening and IPrefs is failing in the startup-sequence :S
Does the AmigaOS Installation CD Update 2 touch the WORK: partition at all during installation?
IPrefs failing
Re: IPrefs failing
Hey I really need some help here!
I just downgraded back to Update 2 and IPrefs is still failing in my startup-sequence.
If I comment out 'iprefs' I reach the workbench screen... but if I select a Radeon RV73 screenmode and select save it will not save/switch to it. But it does work because I 'Test' it first.
Keeps defaulting to 'P96-0:FakeNative:640 x 480

Re: IPrefs failing
IPrefs doesn't fail by itself. It usually fails because you have some weird Prefs settings somewhere. Without IPrefs, you only get basic screen modes etc.
It really isn't worth your while (or anyone else's) to try and fix the problem. Just format a new system partition and re-install from scratch. You'll be up and running again faster than if you stop and try to analyse it. Of course, if you already have a copy of the clean Update 6 in its own partition, you can simply copy that across.
Once you have a fresh clean Update 6 system running, then you can start to re-introduce your Prefs settings, a few at a time, and if it breaks again, you will know what caused it.
