I just switched to USB printing instead of network printing. It solved the problem with the print from AbiWord so now I print in color without problems directly from Abiword. I also discovered that I via the browser can access the printer's web interface and via that can scan to my Amiga. I am very impressed with the HP printer driver from os4net. It has with my new printer (which was not particularly expensive) given me a full functioning printer solution and as all my other computers also can use via wifi,
I think you need to have a printer with either:
- a driver (or compatible) specifically supported
- one that supports PostScript
- one that supports certain versions of PCL
Someone please correct me if I am wrong here as I have not used modern printers with my Amigas.
If I were looking for a Laser printer I would want it to be networkable and support both PostScript and PCL. For inkjet, not sure if any good ones do support PostScript and/or PCL so you might be limited to those for which a specific (or compatible) driver is available.
And within those that do work, the actual quality of printing may vary. I haven't really seen any objective analysis on how good printing is with any models. If someone can point it out that may also help the OP.

yes I know. HP Photosmart 6510 has these things and work perfect.

Colorlaser (postscript) printers: All the ones I tested (several brother, Epson and Xerox AllinOne printers), do work via network (printerwise). But here are the problems:
Postscriptdrivers: Colorimages are way to dark, when printed out... (a winprinterdriver has a Gammacorrection of 1.8, Amiga Printer Drivers have none ?).
PCL Drivers: I did not find any working driver (neither Turboprint nor BJ/HP driver on Aminet(), which lead to good results. Even though all tested printers do support some variety of PCL -> Howerver, these testings took place a year ago...
Scanning: Epson AllInOne may be supported via SANE, which is utilised in Amicygnix. My Xerox 6180mfp can scan towards a SAMBA share on my Amiga. Some others can scan to a FTP Server (set up on Amiga), which works depending on model. Problem is:
- there are not any/many models you can plug USB Sticks into, which will then show up as drive on WB (if printer is connected via USB as well). Inkjet AllInOne is a totally different story here...
- Laser AllInOne do not have a Scanning Netinterface like Inkjet AllInOne
Concluding: A PostscriptColor Laser with inbuild color correction (not via driver) would be perfect. But haven't seen none yet !
