JXFS checksum error

Post by Amigo1 »

JXFS came up with a checksum error yesterday (SDH5 has a checksum error in block 4598646.) while I was deleting a drawer.

Which is the proper way to handle it? I already clicked at least 2000 times on the Ok button. Well not really, after the twentieth time I "Left-Amiga v" for the next 3-4 minutes..

Should I just reset the machine via Reset Button since nothing else responds?
Is there a way to fix the error other than copy everything an reformat the partition?

If more hardware info is needed I'll post it here.

AmigaOS 4.1 Update 6, can't open a RAWBInfo or anything else to read the JXFS version, but it should all be the latest public release. AmigaOne-XE 80GB Pata on sii0680

I think the short answer is: No.

(Except the X1000 where this doesn't currently work) You can see if Partition Wizard allows you to do a Repair (or a Salvage), but I'm not familiar with JXFS so I couldn't say if it will. (I think JXFS is about as limited as SFS in what Partition Wizard supports, so it might well not support Repair.)

BTW, it might be an idea to check the SMART info of your harddisk, just to check it isn't failing (typically indicated by there being a non-small RAW_VALUE for Reallocated_Sector_Ct):

(On my X1000 I can use "SmartCtl -a sb600sata.device:1" (without quotes) to check my harddisk.)
