Hi all any advice? Not sure how to reduce size of the images?
This happens when the network cable is attached.
When it is not attached, I get no error just a white screen with the Workbench title bar.
New User. First boot, GR related to network.

Re: New User. First boot, GR related to network.
The network error was due to it having our network details. Not a problem to solve.
The Grim Reaper was to do with his Keyboard and Mouse. It didnt like them, maybe cause they are wireless? I dont know, but using wired ones worked straight away.

Re: New User. First boot, GR related to network.
Thanks Chris,
I normally use the A-EON Boing Ball keyboard and mouse, however I just checked my AmigaONE X1000 with a couple of wifi keyboard/mouse configurations. (making sure I connected to the correct USB port on the back of the A1-X1000.
1. Logitech K400 - an integrated keyboard and mouse pad - booted to Workbench OK. Both the keyboard and keypad work OK.
2. Microsoft Laser 6000 V2 keyboard & Laser Mouse 5000 V1. Booted to Workbench OK. Again both the keboards and Mouse work OK. Also able to enter CFE by pressing "F" key during early boot.
Trevor
Note: tested on a virgin AmigaOS4.1 Update 5 installation (First Contact setup)

Re: New User. First boot, GR related to network.
Perhaps we should do something about the DSI, if AddNetInterface is crashing, there is a problem.
Can you tell us how to reproduce it?

Re: New User. First boot, GR related to network.
Hello,
Thanks to Chris Follett for his great help in quickly fixing the issue AND talking me through setting up my network!
Posting from my X1000 and Timberwolf (much faster and responsive than some reports had led me to expect)
I have continued to use the keyboard and mouse that seemed to cause the original GR. However the issue has not been repeatable.
Although I do suspect that the KB and mouse are not 100% supported.
The wired USB KB (Emprex model:6310U) is slow to be recognised by OS4 and I get a USB notification on OS4 after the first keypress.
The wireless 2.4ghz mouse (HPFHA-3510) cannot access the Early boot menu, but seems to work well other than that. (can a second [black and ugly] wired mouse be connected for whenever I need the Early boot menu?)
So I suspect that the network config had a greater role to play in the original GR than the KB or Mouse.
For now though I continue to blunder through learning OS4 and creating LOTS of GRs as I test out old software and USB gamepads
(should I capture and share the output of some of these exotic GRs?)

Re: New User. First boot, GR related to network.
I get that problem too. It is very annoying, but luckily it is not my main keyboard. On the bottom of my keyboard it says "Rev 1.0", but someone with "Rev 1.1" reported not having this problem. Can you please confirm if you have a Rev 1.0 keyboard? (I am thinking of getting a newer version.)ddni wrote:The wired USB KB (Emprex model:6310U) is slow to be recognised by OS4 and I get a USB notification on OS4 after the first keypress.
I can also highly recommend *wired* Apple keyboards, especially this one:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MB110 ... ric-keypad
(for some reason this keyboard is now really hard to find on Apple's web site, as it only showed the wireless version in most of my searches.)
Apple keyboards are expensive, but they are good. Also, they have the "Command" key in the same place as the "Amiga" key on real Amiga keyboards, they have a caps-lock light in the caps-lock key (like on a real Amiga), and some of the rest of the layout is more like on a real Amiga than PC-orientated keyboards. On the downside, you cannot use the keys F13 to F19, and there is no Scroll-Lock key (which is used to emulate the Help key on OS4).

Does that mean his machine wasn't set-up to use DHCP, or that DHCP wasn't working with his router?Christopher Follett wrote:The network error was due to it having our network details. Not a problem to solve.

Hi Chris, yes it is a Rev1.0
