Dave, I will be in touch privately in a few days. Skype from my MacBook Pro will be perfect for this.

My X1000 just arrived! Massively excited!!!

Set it up, turned it on and I am getting a GR related to me network. Having never used OS4 before, I am stumped.
I will start a new thread..

Ok, I am now officially up and running with my first ever NG Amiga!
This is day 1 in my OS4 learning cycle. I am pleasantly surprised at how similar it is to OS3.9! If there was any doubt that the X1000 and OS4.1u5 was not a "real" Amiga, then they have been well and truly put to bed.

THIS IS AMIGAAAAA!

I can't wait to get all of my 68k apps across to the x1000 (which wont take long as I just got the X1000 hooked up to my FTP ;) ) and give them a thorough test! I expect lots not to work, but hey that's progress?
RuninUAE has really impressed me, but I will need to RTM as I haven't yet figured out how to get out of it and back to OS4 (lamer aint I !? :D )

In truth, I am one of those diehard classic users who used the software and hardware, but never really wrote or created much. i expect that this will continue for a while.
However what this does mean is that my ham fists and ten thumbs WILL break the OS at regular intervals. This should be a good thing as my many requests for help might add to the dev plan??

Looking forward to lots of tinkering,

Allan

I presume you are "stuck" inside E-UAE? That is a slight quirk of E-UAE: You can force it to close with the keyboard shortcut Ctr-Alt-Q, but you have to press the Ctrl key first, then the Alt key, and then finally the Q key (keeping them held down once pressed).

Or if you just want to temporarily "alt tab" back to the Workbench, then just use the classic Amiga screen-cycling keys LeftAmiga-M (or LeftAmiga-N to jump straight back to Workbench if you have several screens open). These keys worked just the same on AmigaOS3.x (and probably earlier).

LOL. But I have to agree. You won't find that level of "Amiga feeling" anywhere else. Workbench is still Workbench, albiet on steroids. And if Workbench does not meet your DirectoryOpus5-fueled fantasies, then it is well worth downloading & trying Filer from OS4Depot.
