Indeed interesting. :-)

And I can confirm that both my Sam440ep (mini), AmigaOS4.1 Update 4, AmigaKit provided A-Eon AmigaOne keyboard (USB) and my Pegasos II, AmigaOS4.1 Update 4, AmigaKit provided AmigaOne keyboard (PS/2) both *doesn't* show this behaviour! Spooky.

(my Input prefs is set "not an Amiga keyboard", so that checkbox is unchecked here...)

All works fine on my XE too. I am sure it is only a later version that First Contact X1000 buyers (using update 5) and beta testers have that does this. So it may have affected you later. A bug report has been filed and the CM developer can fix it so the Caps Lock key is not regarded as a qualifier key by the commodity.

The good news for those now getting the problem is that it will be fixed, and those still on OS4.1 update 4 (like my XE) will not be affected later when you upgrade to Update 5 and beyond.

Hmm, I can't check right now, *but* IIRC there is a Qualifier that is supposed to prevent ContextMenu from popping (that's a feature) and this Qualifier is, again IIRC, CAPSLOCK... This has to be checked against the ContextMenu documentation from SYS:Documentation though.

ALT has always done it, as do the Amiga keys and I think the CTRL keys do also. Its only in later versions that the Caps Lock has had the same effect. ALT, AMIGA and CTRL are keys you have to press down to purposely invoke the WB menus rather than the Context Menus.

CAPS LOCK is a toggle key which can be left either on or off when the user is not pushing it, so it can be a nuisance and a bit of a surprise when the WB menus always appear.

The good news is that the author can disable the Caps Lock from being recognised and the other numerous qualifier keys can still be used.

The older version of CM on my XE does not disable Context Menus depending on the Caps Lock key, and hopefully the next version should not either. There are a few alternatve qualifiers already.
