X1000 success with CruxPPC and MintPPC Linux Distros
Re: X1000 success with CruxPPC and MintPPC Linux Distros
Hi all,
I have a problem installing the MintPPC, the installation stops at a screen that says:
analyzing disks .... 52%, and does not follow. I downloaded the debian net install iso on the link that is in the guide. anyone knows why this happens.

Are you able to login as root?tommysammy wrote:I have now created this files but cannot write something inside
You may need to create the xorg.conf.d directory (as root)
Code: Select all
mkdir /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
Code: Select all
nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-vsync.conf
then
Code: Select all
nano /etc/profile.d/radeon.sh
and reboot.

If you haven't done so it's probably worth verifying that the ISO you downloaded is good by checking the md5sum or sha1sum ...just in case

I have done it exactly like you but get a kernel panic with DebianSquezze/KDEPatW wrote:Are you able to login as root?tommysammy wrote:I have now created this files but cannot write something inside

I will try it with MintPPC
Have you onboard sound and onboard ethernet with MintPPC ?

The sum is correct, no errors, the installation goes to begin of partitioning and then analyzing the discs, but not appears the partitioning screen to choose the partition for installation.PatW wrote:HiFernecho wrote:Hi all,

Just questions. The sum is correct, no errors, the installation goes to begin of partitioning and then analyzing the discs, but not appears the partitioning screen to choose the partition for installation.
1. Did you have Debian on this same disk before?
2. Are you installing on AmigaOS disk /dev/sda ?
3. If a seperate disk, does Media Toolbox see it?

Re: X1000 success with CruxPPC and MintPPC Linux Distros
I tried Debian Squeeze and get a kernel panic as well running glxgears so it looks like Wheezy is the way to go. The changes I made in Wheezy/MintPPC make no difference on Squeeze.tommysammy wrote: I have done it exactly like you but get a kernel panic with DebianSquezze/KDE

The onboard sound and onboard ethernet are working perfectly in Wheezy/MintPPC. I have a full gigabit ethernet connection

Another question to add to Mechanic's list ..mechanic wrote:Just questions. The sum is correct, no errors, the installation goes to begin of partitioning and then analyzing the discs, but not appears the partitioning screen to choose the partition for installation.

4. When the installation stalls if you press Alt + F4 keys are any errors displayed? (With the AmigaOne keyboard it will left Amiga key + F4)

I have installed AmigaOS on a 1 TB hard drive (which comes with the X1000 AmigaOne FC),/dev/sda1, sda2, sda3, sda4, sda5.
I have installed Debian Squeeze on another hard drive of 250 GB (SATA), /dev/sdb1, and I have a hard disk of 500 GB (IDE), /dev/sdc1 connected to the IDE.
The IDE drive is recognized without problems for the AmigaOS (Media ToolBox) and is also recognized by the Debian (Gparted), this is where I want to install the LinuxMint.
