PCIe 1x and ESI Juli@Xte

Is the PCIe 1x-Slot of the SAM460ex DMA buffered?

I´m asking, because i plan to put there a Soundcard into it. Is the PCIe 1x ESI Juli@Xte-Card working on that slot with the Envy24HT AHI driver?

The onboard-Sound make crackling sounds in high CPU-Load situations. I have checked if there´s a missing 0Ohm Resitor but it´s there. Sadly my PCI-Slot is blocked by the SiL3114-Card, so i have no other choice.

Max reported on Amigaworld that the Juli@Xte works.

See post # 40.

Its now fully confirmed at AW net http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/vie ... 6&forum=33
However, even its low latency, 24-bit sound card, cheapest one could find it is 155eur here http://www.thomann.de/gb/esi_juli_xte.htm

If someone find its cheaper, please report.

Also before buy would be interested to know how much better sound is from e.g. EMU101 card like Sound Blaster Live

It´s really a nice Card and it´s money worth.

What is missing is surely the Mixer-Support or a solution to control the Mastervolume (Mute, Voluup and Voldown).

I havent tried yet but if AHI has AREXX support you could achieve at least master volume up and down through it.

Im "suffering" from the same problem (using a Juli@ here myself) and hope to be able to somehow use AHI directly for master volume up/down.

Right now im using the volume sliders from the third party programs im usin (AmigaAmp, PlayCD etc.)

As far as I have understood, there is no mixer component in the Juli@ cards, which is why the Mixer program does not support them, it has nothing to mix.

But having a convenient master volume control would be nice, I agree. I think there are some solutions out there. Didn't HunoPPC just release something along those lines?

Best regards,

Niels

Several people have the SBLive! card including myself. I love it.
Should you decide to get one make sure it is either a SB 0220 or SB 0100. They are
the same except the 0220 can output to a digital sound system, but I have never seen
a digital sound system in the wild and no idea if one would work with most cards.

There are other SoundBlaster cards, I will recommend to stay away from those without
the above numbers.

That would be enough. So i can use it with my own Ringhio-Soundbar:

Unfortunately, as i have learned lately, AHI does not feature AREXX support.

You have to use the 3rd party play progams and its ability to change the volum to do so...sorry
