Different network issue - FIXED

I just purchased a wireless router, and switched it out on my network. However, I could not get the X1000 to go online. I then replaced the original router, and even copied the old netinterface from my backup partition, still cannot get online. I'm getting a "network is not available" error. Other machines on the same switch can get online. I moved the cord from one of these machines to the X1000, same issue. I checked the network card and it was seated. Any ideas what happened?

Thank you!

If you start Sys:Prefs/Internet, what settings does it show in the following tabs: Interfaces, Routes (inc Default Gateway Address), and Name Resolution. (Hosts might also be relevant.)

Under Interfaces:
Name: RTL8139
Device: rtl8139.device
Unit/Port : 0
Type: unknown
Config: DHCP

Routes :
Default Gateway : 255.255.255.0

Name Resolution is empty

Hosts:
IP addr: 127.1
Name: localhost
Alias : localhost.my.domain

I also checked my Backup Boot partition which could still go online. The Default Gateway there was blank. I removed that, and it seems to work.

Thank you much!!!

Yes, the 255.255.255.0 part was completely wrong. By leaving it blank it should automatically find the correct setting using DHCP.
