Ok. I tried twice before to remember that sometimes FryingPan screwed up.
I succeed in installing Debain using gnome interface. We must remember to use ext4 for main partition.

But that didn't work. After rebooting, and may be before loading the xserver, I had a picture of sadness and the text "Ooops something was wrong, please relog". I pushed the button and I had dark screen and nothing more.

When I read your last post, oh no !!!!
But you are forgiven. All is working perfectly, I highly recommend Debian Mate 8 for sam 400 users. It is more user friendly and faster.
I install audacious,mplayer2 and front-end then your mplayer2 exe. Mplayer is located in /usr/bin not in /usr/local/bin.
I will say that the colors are not screwed up like in Ubuntu 15 and no more modifications like the group sound to be added to the user group.

A last question (?!). What is the difference between the last iso you post here and the debian mate netinstaller I first intalled and found on supertux site (or something like that!)?
Thanks.

Edit: I forgot something. The kernel 4.0 is working too.

:D Thanks for the forgiveness.
Custom versions of apps like Mplayer should be installed in /usr/local/bin so that an update or re installation of the official updated does not replace the custom one.
The first debian Jessie installer was a combined Sam460ex and Sam 440ep one with older version of the kernel. Kernel 15.5 i believe .It was also based on a beta ramdisk, and I think I had experimented with an EXT4 partition. I has problems with the EXT4 partition and multiple installations of Linux .
The second version is the current Sam460ex version. The third one is this Sam440ep version that you installed.
The 3.18.11 kernel on this is from the long term kernel 3.18 branch. I wont use a 4.x kernel on an installer unless the problem with HDMI is resolved . The 3.18 and 3.19 branches support Radeon HDMI audio if your graphics card supports it. Not sure is it works on the Sam440ep-flex but was working well on the Sam460ex with Radeon HD cards up to HD6000 series . the 4.0 Kernels currently have problems booting with HDMI connected.

Glad to hear that the 4.0 kernel is working too. Will motivate me to compile a 4.02 Sam440ep kernel soon. Did the Sam460ex versions today .

Thank you very much for testing as you have prevented me from giving up on the Sam440ep machines.
