Re: Sometimes the X1000 doesn't boot
A1-X1000 setup: Corsair GS800 800w PSU, Western Digital 250 GB SATA HDD (model:WD2500YS), 4GB Ram, Radeon HD7950-3GB GDDR5- Dual Slot, Lite-On RW DVD/CD, On-Board Nemo sound,8139B NIC, Catweasel MK4+
Re: Sometimes the X1000 doesn't boot
Don't hold me to this, but I seem to recall a discussion about the X1000 needing a hard drive installed before it could boot.
If that fragment of my memory is correct perhaps this problem is related to the HD and not something more serious.
Can someone please comment on this before people start chasing wild geese.

Re: Sometimes the X1000 doesn't boot
No the X1000 can boot without any CF and new HDD only with the DVD-Rom and of course the OS4.1.6 CD (I burned one with AmiDVD)
I change the Sata-cabels to 90′ and turn the HDD inside his slot 180′
After this i try to boot only with the DVD connected to Sata as the Guide says and it works.
CFE -> Amigaboot.of (on CD) -> Amigaboot.of loads Kickstart (from the CD) -> Kickstart (loaded from CD) -> Starts OS4.1.6 from CD or USB-Stick
You only need a valid Bootmedium that can be available/read by CFE contain amigaboot.of Thats all
So if some Bootproblems show up bevor CFE start something the Problem ist otherwise.

Re: Sometimes the X1000 doesn't boot
You are correct, I have never got any to boot without hdd.mechanic wrote:Don't hold me to this, but I seem to recall a discussion about the X1000 needing a hard drive installed before it could boot.

It gets to cfe, you tell it to boot from cd, then it gives error and resets. Add hdd, it boots and works fine.

Re: Sometimes the X1000 doesn't boot
The HDD must be connected and can empty at all.
The CFE see the CDrom.
I edit my previosly post for that.

Re: Sometimes the X1000 doesn't boot
My X1000 sometimes didn't boot. The power supply fan runs, the CPU fan runs, and that's all. No video at all. I have unplugged power cords and replugged at the graphics card and power supply. Thereafter the X1000 always booted till now. I hope this has solved the problem.
