Wicknix has released the BrassMonkey 33.6.1 Internet Suite. It contains a web browser, email client, HTML editor, IRC client, News client, calendar and RSS client.

I compiled it for Linux PowerPC 32-bit libc without AltiVec today.

Trying to get my ahead around these new browser ports. So we've had ArticFox, SeaMonkey and now BrassMonkey. It's almost looking like trying to figure out the AmiStore X1000 3D drivers.

So as I understand it, ArticFox is the closest relation to FireFox, but is currently broken. This leaves the Monkeys. SeaMonkey for browsing and BrassMonkey providing a fuller suite of internet software.

My question, what would be the best optimised version for an X1000? I see builds without AltiVec and for PPC64. Since I have AltiVec I would have of course prefer a version with this. Most of my Linux installs are 32 bit so I don't need a PPC64 version. But I haven't tested if it's compatible either. Getting down to Brass tacks, are there any builds suited for an X1000 that do feature AltiVec?

Only the 64-bit versions have AltiVec support currently.

Maybe I find time for compiling a 32-bit PowerPC version with AltiVec.

Okay thanks! I'll test them out. I don't know if the 64 bit versions will crash and burn on 32 bit Linuxes but I'll give it a shot.

I have compiled Brassmonkey 33.6.1 for 32-bit Linux PowerPC machines with AltiVec support.

It doesn't work on e5500 machines.

If you need the libffi.so.7 and the libjpeg.so.8 for Linux PPC 32-bit libc then download the SeaLion-BrassMonkey deps package, extract it and copy the libs to the lib directory.
