Iceweasel 40.0.3-1 was released for the unofficial Debian PPC64 port. I installed it inside my Debian PPC64 chroot. Unfortunately it doesn't start.
Error messages:
Code: Select all
too much recursion
Segmentation fault
Iceweasel and Firefox 40.X.X aren't available for all Ubuntu flavours and for Debian with 32-bit userland currently.

Hi All,
Iceweasel was updated to version 40.0.3-3 for the unofficial Debian PPC64 port. I installed it inside my Debian PPC64 chroot. Unfortunately it doesn't start either.
Note: Iceweasel and Firefox 40.X.X PowerPC aren't available for all Ubuntu flavours and for Debian with 32-bit userland currently.

I can get the latest Icedove (also version 40) to work normally. No luck with either Firefox 40 or Iceweasel 40.
*** UPDATE: FIREFOX 40.0.3 out for Lubuntu on power platforms! according to the hype it supposed to have special Linux features about multi-threading browsing.

Firefox 40.0.3 also works on ubuntu MATE 15.10 PowerPC!
Note: Firefox 40.0.3 is only available for all Ubuntu 15.10 flavors currently.
It isn't available yet for:
A-EON Live Remix distribution
All Ubuntu 12.04.5 flavors
All Ubuntu 15.04 flavors
All Ubuntu 14.04 flavors

Firefox 41 is available for Lubuntu and ubuntu MATE 15.10.

Firefox 41.0.2 is available for all Ubuntu 15.10 flavours.
I updated ubuntu MATE 15.10 PowerPC in a chroot on Ubuntu 10.04.4. On the screenshot you can see the new Firefox 41.0.2 and Thunderbird 38.3.0 started from the ubuntu MATE 15.10 chroot on the GNOME 2.30.2 desktop.

Today, after an update I just got
Firefox 42.0+build2 PowerPC. This new Firefox is only available for the development version of
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
Iceweasel build status:

Firefox build status:
launchpad.net
Unfortunately you need a new Ubuntu version like 15.10 or 16.04 to get a new Firefox version.
Status:
Ubuntu 15.10 flavors: Firefox 41.0.2+build2
Ubuntu 16.04 favors: Firefox 42.0+build2

Was this browser has the same functionality as the Windows version
Operating properly Google Docs etc
