Yeah. To get a radical speed up requires an equally radical reimplementation. In a perfect world, you'd be using GART, hardware TCL and reusable vertex buffer objects. In short, you'd be using something like more like Mesa rather than MiniGL atop Warp3D.

There is room for improvement even without all those, however.

The Hollywood test demo from me is using pure 2D Compositing blitting in a "best case scenario" (a bad polling-loop) ;)
It try to gain as much as fps unless you activate VSync.
