There are plenty of cable modems that are connected to using ethernet... (Cable *modems* only have a single ethernet port, and the connected computer gets a WAN IP address instead of a LAN IP address. No firewall, etc.)
Not sure I understand what your trying to say here. I would be amazed if he wasnt using a router, as it the most common thing these days.

Me too. I only asked because he wrote "Both the green and amber lights are lit on the Ethernet card, and the Network Wizard cannot find a modem".
Modem?

In an attempt to make sure all the right details are covered..
Please make sure you are using the Ethernet port in the PCI slot, and NOT the one built in to the Nemo board.
At this time, we are using the RTL8139 in the expansion slot only, as the drivers for the builtin ethernet have
not yet been released.
Sadly, no picture to reference from the Quick Start guide.. but if you don't completely understand what I'm
trying to say then PLEASE let us know. Pictures can be taken, with "circles and arrows"(1) added as needed.
Let us know how it goes!

HAPPINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The delete and retry seems to have done it.
The keyboard now works on boot as well, but the Amiga and alt keys are reversed.
Thanks all!!!

It sounds like you are NOT using the official Amiga keyboard which came with your X1000? (Otherwise, somehow, a firmware setting has been changed.)
If you are NOT using the official keyboard, then you need to change a firmware setting to swap those two keys.
