NTFS and X1000 to see Linux HDD ?

Post by amigasociety »

I did the updates so my X1000 has NTFS now.

Tell me.... what do I need to setup so my linux hdd in the X1000 can be sean now by Amiga OS since I have this NTFS running now. I understand some other drivers are available that would allow my Linux Ubuntu I got from A-Eon to be seen.

That would be nice to have.

I take it you are talking about a drive that is not Amiga-formatted (by Media Toolbox), but partitioned on a Windows or Linux box?

Currently that sort of drive is not recognised or mounted by diskboot.kmod. We are currently looking at newer methods of mounting fixed and removable media.

Correct, this is a 2nd SATA drive installed in my X1000 and has the A-Eon Ubuntu 12.04LTS installed on it. This drive is only formatted for linux and what I boot the X1000 from when doing Ubuntu. Would be sweet while in Amiga OS if I could see the contents of that drive to say share a file I created or something.

You should be able to Mount the drive (using the C:Mount command), but you can't yet automount it at boot time.

Use "giggledisk" from AMinet to Mount EXT2 or NTFS Partitions of Linux ;)

Giggledisk appears to be for AmigaOS_68k (& MorphOS) and DSI's on my machine?

Hm i will test this on my X1000 , but on my AmigaONE-XE it works .

I had on my XE Linux installed on a seperate HDD with Ext3 and a NTFS-Partition. But i must do a Clean-Install OS4.1 to Update6 so i lost GiggleDisk.

Must Search in my Backup-DVDs.

It doesn't DSI on my machine but if it refuses to work there is also MountDOS which can be used:
http://aminet.net/disk/misc/MountDos12.lha

Just make sure that the following fields are set as follows in the generated DOSDriver to mount with NTFS3G:
FileSystem = L:NTFileSystem3G
DosType = 0x4E544653
