Re: Fienix - New PowerPC Distro
I have been having problems with my installation of Ubuntu - the laptop I was running it on crashed and refused to reboot so I have reinstalled Ubuntu version 20.04. Steve OK, so I have reinstalled Ubuntu and followed the new simplified instructions from Casey but get a CFE message on the X1000 say...

Re: Fienix - New PowerPC Distro
Hi Steve. You may want to check your SATA cables as there are ATA errors. I'm familiar with seeing these errors. But most importantly there are USB errors attaching the USB drive. I have been having problems with my installation of Ubuntu - the laptop I was running it on crashed and refused to rebo...

Re: Fienix - New PowerPC Distro
Hi Christian, Do you use the boot argument rootdelay=5? Can you mount the FIENIX-DISK with Ubuntu 18.04.4? The kernel doesn't find the root partition on your USB flash drive. Yes, I am using the rootdelay=5 argument, and FIENIX-DISK can be mounted with Ubuntu; and it is "sdb2" rather than ...

Re: Fienix - New PowerPC Distro
Hi Christian, Yes, I used Ubuntu (18.04.4) to create the partitions, a small one using FAT32 rather than FAT16, and a larger EXT4 partition. I copied the zImage to the small partition and used dd to copy the Fienix image to the larger partition - I notice that the name of this larger partition was c...

Re: Fienix - New PowerPC Distro
I decided to install Fienix on my X1000 after reading Trevor's blog but I have not been able to get it to load (screenshot shows how far it gets: https://newsnumeracy.files.wordpress.com/2020/04/fienix_boot.jpg ) I followed the instructions on Casey's blog and downloaded and installed the 4.20 kerne...

Re: [FIXED] HD graphics card boots to blank screen
FIXED - AFter all that, turns out the cable into the back of the monitor was slightly loose. For some reason, this only affected the output from the HD card.
Anyway, OS4 is booting beautifully again ..... thanks again to Tony for your time!

Re: HD graphics card boots to blank screen
Should I be able to boot OK from the FE boot CD? Answering my own question! I can't boot from the FE CD with the HD graphics card installed - again, all goes well until the red progress bar hits 100%, then the blank screen appears and the monitor turns itself; and I am waiting a good 5 mins before ...

Re: HD graphics card boots to blank screen
I'm not familiar with the "A-Eon splash screen". I mean the X1000 splash screen - it is the logo you see within seconds of powering on the X1000. Presumably it's an X-1000 and it shows the CFE display OK? Then shows the red progress bar OK while booting? Yes to all. Then what? Does it not...

Re: HD graphics card boots to blank screen
Steve, it's almost certainly caused by the new installation writing over your RadeonHD.chip file in Kickstart/. Did you have a newer version installed, eg from AmigaKit? Hmmm, this doesn't seem to be the problem, as I have now installed RadeonHD.chip v2.10 (the latest version from AmiStore). The X1...

Re: HD graphics card boots to blank screen
Hi Tony - I thought I'd done that but will check when I get home this evening.Steve, it's almost certainly caused by the new installation writing over your RadeonHD.chip file in Kickstart/
Thanks,
