Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

I replaced my Agnus socket on a hunch that it might be contributing to my issues. Pleased to report the 3.2.3 ROM now boots without a problem.

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

Is it normal that when loading the ROM from Disk, the reporting kickstart, exec and disk versions from ShowConfig report the actual kickstart ROM and not the 3.2.3 patched ROM versions?

Operating System: Kickstart version 47.115
Exec version 47.13
Disk version 47.5

ShowConfig Version: 47.38 ...

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

Hi,

I swapped out my ECS V4 with my real Denise, and ShowConfig now reliably shows I have an ECS Denise.
I disabled my Phoenix Board SCSI entirely, and now all the expansions appear in the Boot ROM menu, under expansions.

I tried another 3.2.3 Kickstart ROM from Sordan.ie, but unfortunately the ...

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

Thanks for the reply. If it were faulty RAM, wouldn't the problem also occur when using the kick 3.2.2 and booting to 3.2.3? I have tested my DRAMs and they all passed OK.

Where are you reading the odd ROM being on/off please? I am using an ECS V4, which may explain the Denise difference?

Using ...

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

For completeness, I put the X-Surf back in, and here is the ShowConfig - noting the LAN cards both registered at $EA0000, but Im not sure that is the issue now.

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

Today I reverted my kickstart back to 3.2.2 (47.111) after erasing and then writing the bin file to the same 27c400 eprom that had the 3.2.3 (47.115). The Expansions all appear again in the (pre) Boot menu now when the "Expansion" button is pressed (this was showing no expansions/blank with the 3.2 ...

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

The only card that is moveable in this config is really the LAN card (X-Surf). I have another LAN card (a Zorro-LAN-IDE-CP card by Matze) which I have swapped into the Phoenix, but there is no difference, same error.

Today I will downgrade from 3.2.3 back to 3.2.2 where this problem did not occur ...

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

I booted the first time this morning with TRACE on and it booted fine, but then did a soft-reset and turned TRACE on again - this time it came up with an error there was not enough memory to run Version exec.library version 48 (see screenshot)?

The 'Expansion Board' screen is not showing any ...

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

Hi,

I took out my Kickstart 3.2.2 which has been working perfectly, and wrote the A500 512k 3.2.3 bin to the 27c400 120ns eprom.

It has the same problem as the 27c240 @ 100ns. When it boots without a Software Error, the Amiga runs flawlessly and for hours without failure. If I need to soft-reset ...

Re: 3.2.3 Crash on startup

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I can soft-boot without an issue, and that is what I am using now with a Kick 3.2 ROM. Which means I get the extra reboot at startup.

Interestingly, when I am using the 3.2.3 ROM in ROM #4, it does not show any expansions in the boot menu, but when it boots and runs ...
