The Debian developers have removed the PowerPC SPE platform so that there will be no more Linux developments for the A1222. The reason for this was the deletion as a target platform in version 9 of the gcc compiler, which was already obsolete in version 8.

However, all kernels and images remain available on the Tabor Linux download page. Debian PowerPC-SPE works very well on the Tabor board (screenshot). If you would like to test Debian on the A1222 Plus, you will find a Linux Guide. The links to the latest kernel and to the PowerPC-SPE version of the Arctic Fox browser: Further downloads can be found on the A1222 Linux downloads page (user name: tabor, password: amigaone).

@xeno74
thank you and Julian for work.
I tested here linux last year and it works very well - old SPE Debian, old PPC LUbuntu and latest PPC void.
Even with PPC FPU emulation performance of Office and Gimp is better with Pegasos 2 or Sam460. Of course, X1000 is far better.

For users, Chimera linux would be worth a try. It uses the llvm/clang compiler that still supports SPE, so you can compile some applications natively with SPE.
I haven't tried Chimera - my new kitten managed to knock my A1222 to the floor and destroy ( thankfully only ) the graphics card.
So now I have Polaris inside and I am without Linux.
If in the future U-Boot could use DIU at the same time as the graphics card and allocate more video memory, that would also help Linux users.

@xeno74:

please, is the kernel version 5.4-r3 latest and final for A1222+?
Or there is the chance of some of newer LTS 5.10, 6.1 ?

Just asking, I know, there are probably no much users. And my A1222 is still without linux compatible card.
