Hi All,
Dominic Szablewski has created a re-implementation of the 1995 PSX game wipEout.
You can play it in a web browser:
https://phoboslab.org/wipegame/
More info in his blog:
https://phoboslab.org/log/2023/08/rewriting-wipeout
I was able to compile it on ubuntu MATE 16.04.7 PowerPC today. It starts but it has wrong colors and the sound isn't correct. I think it is an endian issue.
I tested it on Void PPC as well but unfortunately it has the same issues on it.
Screenshot:
I created a bug report today.

Cheers,
Christian

Success ... It was a long way ...
Download:
wipEout_Rewrite_0.2-linux-powerpc.tar.gz
It works on ubuntu MATE 16.04.7 PowerPC and higher. It also works on Void PPC, Fienix, and Debian Sid PPC with
run_game.sh.

On the X1900 graphicscard Wipeout has an issue as shown in the screenshot!
This is on both Void and Fienix. Tested on kernel 6.5 final and 6.6 a1

Could you please also test the following package?
wipEout_Rewrite_0.1_linux-powerpc.tar.gz
The binary has been compiled with the
default OpenGL renderer.
Version
0.2 uses the OpenGL Legacy renderer.
@All
If you like WipEout, then try the new modern version
BallisticNG on a Mac or PC. It runs very well
native on Linux x86_64. You can buy and install it with Steam.
