New X1000 owner here! (yay, missed the first run so had to buy used)
I'm getting going on using this great machine, but would like to use the pci slots for "other" cards!
So, I need a working driver for the motherboard ethernet...
TIA,
Michael
Lyle, anyone?

I second the question.
The last info we got was from
2017 and i guess a lot of people would love an update on this (may it be bad, so we could move on or good, so we could set our minds at ease and wait even longer)

@msalcedo:
As far as I know, still nobody has succeeded in creating a stable driver for the internal NIC of the X1000.
I'd imagine, if/when it should happen, that it would have been released as soon as possible (yes, even in the current circumstances), and maybe even triumphantly announced before that.
But the drivers for the various RealTek cards work fine, including the "gigabit" one (RTL8169). So consider whether you can live with that one PCI card.
Best regards,
Niels

What would be nice to know is what exactly is the problem with the driver?
It's unstable, ok, but why?
What works and what doesn't?
Is the documentation of the used chip/underlying hardware that bad?
Is AmigaOS not able to talk correctly to the chip because of ...reasons?
Development of that driver is close to (or already beyond) 10 years and while i undrstand that most of that time the driver lay dormant without anyone really working on it, it would still be interesting to know what the reasons are.
Don't get me wrong, i don't want anyone to waste time explaining things all the beta staff already knows, but us mere users don't really see behind that curtain and to catch a glimpse of such once and again would be an "Oz" feeling ... you know? ... because of "Wizard of Oz" ... the guy behind the curtain? ... ... i'll shut up now...

Many Thanks Niels!
I can and will live with that one pci card.
I am so very far behind my knowledge base for the X1000.. (sigh)
Michael, more X1000 questions to follow.
Because when I bought this I got no docs or support info (arrggg)

Hopefully you did get a CD and a license code for OS4, so you can register and get access to Update1 and Update2. Oh, first of all hopefully you have OS 4.1 Final Edition ("FE" as we usually call it) installed. If it's anything older, I'd recommend buying FE, installing it, registering it and proceed from there with the updates.
Best regards,
Niels

@Niels,
nope, no cd no nothing except a email stating I'm selling... I was promised the left behind misc stuff at AmiWest (didn't happen)
So, I'm starting from just the machine and my knowledge, which is almost nothing
I bought some stuff from AmigaKit and found some docs on the net (thank goodness)
I am now updated to FE u2
sigh
Michael
Trevor pointed out some things I needed

Hey, Michael,
Congrats on buying the best Amiga ever made. My X1000 is my development machine, and I use it for development before any of the others.
You know where to ask if you need help...
