Hi Christian!!

During my x1000 recovery I found mistakes I made as I mentioned in another post. One mistake was my Monitor setting, I presume. My Monitor was set to sRGB Mode instead of Standard Mode. Still connected via HDMI. So I just tried booting Ubuntu Remix with the 4.0.7 Kernel. Watched the booting sequence and to my surprise all ok except for the obvious [Fail] on Bluetooth. BINGO!! It booted!! Just wanted to let you know!

Monitor: Asus PA248Q IPS
Res - 1920 x 1200
Mode - Standard
Connection - HDM

I will try this again to prove repeatability. Something in the command line:

CFE> setenv bootargs "root=/dev/ramdisk file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper quiet ro splash --"

I made an accidental error in this line leaving out [splash --"] I think. Or [--''] I can't repeat it.

Cheers!! :D

John

Tried again and could not repeat. I'll try again after the computer has been off for a while. Don't know why it won't now.

Cheers!!

Good Morning!!
Amiga Off overnight. Cold startup using the following:

I have the Define R4 Fractal case. Powered On, inserted Ubuntu Remix then pressed 'F'. At CFE> prompt plugged my USB Thumbdrive containing VMLinux-4.0.7 Kernel into the Front Right USB Port.

CFE> ramdisk -addr=0x24000000 -fs=iso atapi0.1:casper/powerpc64/initrd [Enter]
CFE> setenv bootargs @root=/dev/ramdisk file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper [Enter] -my accident!! The rest should have been ( quiet ro splash --'' ) for one reason or another my accident works! Of course next line:
CFE> boot -elf -noints -fatfs usbdisk0:vmlinux-4.0.7 [Enter]

Two points. I cannot use the USB 2.0 Port on the Front Left for this. I cannot use ( quiet ro splash --''). I'm posting in Firefox right now on Live DVD. Hope this helps someone and I hope someone can help me understand. Computers have a mind of their own at times. It's Just My Plain Dumb Luck!!

Cheers!!
John

<EDIT>
NOTE: When able to boot from From DVD with vmlinux 4.0.7, I accomplished the install procedure. However, the Booting process is too inconsistant even when installed on Hard Drive using the CF Card. Reporting my findings.
